અમે 5મી મે (રવિવાર) ના રોજ રોયલ આલ્બર્ટ પેલેસ ખાતે એક શોનું આયોજન કર્યું છે – આ ફક્ત આપણો શો છે અને તે બે પીઢ કવિઓ – હિતેન આનંદપરા અને મુકેશ જોષી સાથે છે. મને ખાતરી છે કે તમને તે ગમશે. આ સાથે આ જ કાર્યક્રમનું ફ્લાયર પણ શેર કરીએ છીએ. 5મી મેના રોજ યોજાનાર કાર્યક્રમ પછી દરેક ઉપસ્થિત વ્યક્તિને ડીનર લેઈને જવા વિનંતી.

આજે પહેલી વાર હું પ્રમુખ પદેથી તમને સહુને સંદેશો પાઠવી રહ્યો છું એનો આનંદ છે. આશા રાખું છું કે આપ સહુનો સાથ અમારી આ કમિટીને મળી રહેશે અને અમે પણ શ્રી રામભાઈ ગઢવીની માફક આ સંસ્થાને હંમેશની જેમ આગળ લાવી શકીશું.
યુનાઇટેડ કિંગડમ સ્થિત ગુજરાતી સાહિત્ય અકાદમી એક વાર્તાલાપ યોજી રહી છે જે ગુજરાતી લિટરરી એકેડેમી ઓફ નોર્થ અમેરિકાના નિવૃત્ત પ્રમુખ, હાલના ચૅર અને આપણા સહુના વહાલા શ્રી રામ ગઢવીસાથે છે. આશા રાખીએ છીએ કે આપ સહુ આ કાર્યક્રમમાં જોડાશો અને શ્રી રામભાઈનું અભિવાદન કરવામાં સાથ આપશો.
Dear Members of Gujarati Literary Academy of North America:
I am writing to you with a heart full of gratitude and appreciation as I complete my 25-year journey as the President of GLAOFNA. It has been an incredible honor and privilege to serve this organization, and I am deeply thankful for the support and cooperation of each and every one of you during my tenure.
Over the past quarter-century, GLAOFNA has grown and achieved remarkable milestones, thanks to the dedication and hard work of all our committee members during these years. Together, we have forged lasting relationships, organized impactful events, and contributed to the betterment of our Gujarati community.
We are making some organizational changes that will take effect on April 1, 2024. As I step down from the role of President, I am excited to introduce the new leadership team that will guide GLAOFNA into its next chapter. The organization is fortunate to have individuals who bring fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and a commitment to our shared mission of supporting our language “Gujarati”.
I am pleased to announce Ashish Desai who will be taking over as the new President of GLAOFNA for the upcoming term. Ashish is a seasoned and dedicated member of our community, and I have full confidence in his ability to lead the organization with wisdom and passion. Along with Gini Malaviya as VP of GLAOFNA in this new committee, I am sure they will take this organization to the next level.
I ask for your continued support and cooperation as Ashish Desai takes on this leadership role. I am confident that under their guidance, GLAOFNA will continue to thrive and make a positive impact on the lives of our members and the community at large.
It has been an incredible journey, and I am grateful for the memories and experiences we have shared. Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving as your President. Last but not least I would like to thank my wife Bhanu for all her support during all these years. But for her help, many of our activities would not have achieved the success they did.
Now, I look forward to witnessing the continued success and growth of GLAOFNA under the new leadership. Wishing you all the very best.

સિતાંશુ યશશ્ચન્દ્ર – સાથે એક અંતરંગ ગોષ્ઠિ
શ્રી સિતાંશુ યશશ્ચન્દ્ર ગુજરાતી ના પ્રખ્યાત કવિ, નાટ્યકાર અને વિવેચક છે એ તો આપણે સહુ જાણીએ છીએ. વર્ષ ૨૦૨૪ની શરૂઆત એમના એક કાર્યક્રમથી કરીશું. શું વાત કરીશું – એની એક રૂપરેખા જણાવીએ
ગુજરાતી લિટરરી એકેડેમી ઓફ નોર્થ અમેરિકા અત્યંત વેદના સાથે પરિવારના એક લાડકા અને ગમતીલા વ્યક્તિની વિદાયના સમાચાર પાઠવે છે.
ચંદુ શાહના હુલામણા નામે જાણીતા કવિ, લેખક અને નાટ્યકાર ચંદ્રકાન્ત શાહ હવે આપણી વચ્ચે નથી રહ્યા. ચંદ્રકાન્ત શાહને યાદ કરતાં તેમની અગણિત સિધ્ધિઓ એક સાથે વંટોળની જેમ હલ્લો કરે છે. ચંદ્રકાન્ત શાહનુ વ્યક્તિવ્ય જાદુની જેમ લોકોને વશ કરી લેતું.
‘બ્લુ જીન્સ’ અને ‘અને થોડાં સપનાં’ તેમના પ્રસિદ્ધ કાવ્યસંગ્રહો છે. કાવ્યસંગ્રહમાં લખાયેલો તેમનો પ્રલંબ લય વાંચવો તો ગમે પણ એમના અવાજમાં એમનાં કાવ્યોનું પઠન એવું તો ભાવસભર થતું કે શ્રોતાઓ એમની મોહિનીમાં અંજાઈ જતા. કવિતાના ભાવકોમાં તેમની બ્લુ જીન્સ કવિતાનો રંગ ખૂબ ઊંડે સુધી અસર કરી ગયો છે. તો નાટ્યપ્રેમીઓ તેમનાં ‘ખેલૈયા’, ‘એક હતી રૂપલી’ કે ‘નર્મદ’ અને ‘માસ્ટર ફૂલમણિ ‘ જેવાં નાટકોના કેફને હજી વાગોળે છે. કવિનું ગીત-સંગીતભર્યું નાટક ‘એવા મુંબઈમાં ચાલ જઈએ’ તેમના જ શબ્દોમાં કહીએ એમ એવું ‘ઢાંસુ’ કે જે નાટકરસિયાઓ માટે ઓચ્છવ હતો. એસ ફોર ઈન્ક કંપનીના સફળ ઉદ્યોગપતિ હોવા સાથે તેઓ બોસ્ટનની ગુર્જર સંસ્થાના પણ પ્રાણપોષક હતા. મેઘધનુષ જેવી સંસ્થા દ્વારા બોસ્ટનમાં ગુજરાતી સંગીત, સાહિત્ય અને નાટ્યક્ષેત્રે ઓક્સિજનનો પુરવઠો આપવાનું કામ પણ સહજપણે કરતા. નાટકની સાથે તેમણે ગુજરાતી અને અંગ્રેજી મૂવીક્ષેત્રે પણ પ્રદાન કર્યું છે. પછી એ સપ્તપદી હોય કે ડાલિલેન્ડ. ‘ગોલ્ફ ટુ ફીડ અ ચાઈલ્ડ’હોય કે ‘અક્ષયપાત્ર’ની દાન માટેની ટહેલ સ્વીકારી દાતા તરીકે હંમેશા આગળની હરોળમાં રહેતા.
ગુજરાતી લિટરરી એકેડેમી ઓફ નોર્થ અમેરિકાના ભૂતપૂર્વ ઉપપ્રમુખ તરીકે તેમણે સેવા આપી હતી. ગુજરાતી કવિતાના ‘કાઉબોય’ તરીકે ઓળખાતા કવિના જાદુ કે મોહિનીના ‘લાસો’ દરેક ભાવકોના ગળામાં પ્રેમ થઈને વીંટળાયેલા છે. કવિની એક ‘ આ દુનિયામાં’ કવિતાની કેટલીક પંક્તિઓ આમ છે:
શાહી નામના એક શાપથી ખરડાયેલા દરેક શબ્દને ખમ્મા!
દરેક જણને ખમ્મા!
આ કાગળ જ્યાં કોરો છે ત્યાં ધરબાયેલા દરેક શબ્દને ખમ્મા!
દરેક જણને ખમ્મા!
એકેડેમી તરફથી શબ્દોનું વહાલ અને વરદાન પામેલા આપણા સહુના પ્રિય એવા ચંદ્રકાન્ત શાહને ઘણી ખમ્મા !
